Position Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant (MA-C) is an integral part of the Physician/Advanced Practice Provider (APP) office team, working under the direction and supervision of a licensed healthcare practitioner. This role requires performance of safe clinical skills within the scope of practice of the MA-C and involves continuous contact with physicians, APPs, nurses, front office staff, patients, and their families/caregivers.

Responsibilities

• Organize patient flow in collaboration with front office staff
• Interview patients
• Obtain vital signs
• Assist patients in preparing for exams or treatments
• Perform specimen collection, including venipuncture
• Administer medications in compliance with Washington State Department of Health regulations and documented competency
• Relay instructions/information to patients and their families/caregivers
• Send and receive patient medical records
• Facilitate patient referrals
• Prepare forms for patients

Requirements

• Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C)
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare setting preferred
• Current BLS certification

Primary work locations are Tacoma, Puyallup, and Auburn clinics. Occasional travel to Olympia may be required.
