Responsibilities

  • Perform common technical tasks or procedures under the direction of a provider or nurse.
  • May administer medications to patients following validation of competency and a documented order from a provider, with verification by a licensed practitioner or nurse.
  • Administer high-risk medications only with verification by a nurse.
  • Collect blood and bodily fluids for laboratory processing.
  • Perform laboratory waived testing such as bedside finger stick glucose.
  • Perform general administrative duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support or obtain within three months of hire.
  • If driving is required, a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record as required by the hospital liability carrier.
  • CNA certification or phlebotomy training/certification preferred.
  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • One year’s experience in a medical assistant field or equivalent healthcare experience.

Skills

  • Basic Cardiac Life Support.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
