What We Are Looking For
NextCare Urgent Care is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Medical Assistant who enjoys a fast-paced environment and works well in a team. Candidates should be customer-friendly and passionate about providing excellent care.
Responsibilities
- Assists providers with exams (including patient vitals), procedures, and other direct patient care tasks under direct supervision.
- Administers medications according to policy and provider direction, adhering to safety protocols.
- Performs blood draws and urine collections as directed by the provider.
- Conducts splinting and casting as needed.
- Performs various types of physicals, such as sports physicals.
- Carries out other urgent care-related duties like ear lavage, wound care, and oxygen administration.
- Notifies the on-duty provider promptly of any unusual patient occurrences, including medication events, and documents these on an incident report.
- Notifies the Clinic Manager of any patient or employee safety concerns immediately.
- Follows laboratory and clinical accreditation policies.
- Must be proficient in Electronic Medical Records (EMR)/Electronic Health Records (EHR).
- Performs other related duties as assigned or described by company policy.
- Supports the front office by keeping patients informed of wait times, monitoring patient flow, processing discharges, preparing charges, collecting payments, obtaining signatures, and issuing receipts.
Essential Education, Experience & Skills
- Arizona: High school diploma or equivalent; completed an approved (accredited) Medical Assistant training program; and passed a national certification exam through AAMA, AMT, or NHA.
- Other states: High school diploma or equivalent; completed an approved (accredited) Medical Assistant training program; and passed a national certification exam through AAMA, AMT, or NHA.
- OR: Unapproved (non-accredited) Medical Assistant training program; at least one year of employment as a Medical Assistant after program completion; or at least 2000 hours of supervised work experience as a Medical Assistant under a provider or physician group.
