About the Role
NextCare Urgent Care is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Medical Assistant to join our team in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. As a Medical Assistant, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional patient care, ensuring smooth clinic operations, and supporting both back-office medical tasks and front-office reception duties.
Responsibilities
- Assists providers with exams, procedures, and direct patient care under supervision, including patient vitals.
- Administers medications per policy and provider direction, adhering to safety protocols.
- Performs blood draws, urine collection (including drug screens), splinting, casting, and various physicals (e.g., sports physicals).
- Conducts urgent care-specific tasks such as ear lavage, wound care, and oxygen administration.
- Reports unusual patient occurrences, including medication events, and addresses patient/employee safety concerns.
- Ensures compliance with laboratory and clinical accreditation policies and proficiency in EMR/EHR.
- Supports front office duties, including managing patient flow, processing discharges, and handling payments.
Qualifications
ARIZONA:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completed an accredited Medical Assistant training program OR a non-accredited program with national certification from AAMA (CMA), AMT (RMA), or NHA (CCMA).
All Other States:
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent.
- Completed an accredited Medical Assistant training program OR a non-accredited program with national certification from AAMA (CMA), AMT (RMA), or NHA (CCMA).
- Alternatively, completed a non-accredited program with 1+ year of verifiable work experience as a Medical Assistant under direct provider supervision (minimum 2000 hours or 1 year).
- Other MA education/experience may be considered with approval from Compliance and Regulatory department.
