About the role
The Medical Assistant (MA) performs clinical duties and some administrative functions under the direction of medical group providers. Responsibilities include preparing patients for examination, taking and recording vital signs, patient histories, and assisting with various procedures. This position also handles prescription refill and pre-authorization tasks.
Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for examination and assist providers with procedures.
- Take and record vital signs and patient histories.
- Perform clinical duties under the direction of medical group providers.
- Manage electronic prescription refills and prior authorizations.
- Support provider tasks and handle phone calls from patients.
- Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills with patients of all age categories.
- Model sensitivity to patients, including effective telephone and verbal communication in emergency situations.
- Maintain current knowledge and skills in providing care for patients from neonate to geriatric.
- Possess excellent customer relations skills to avoid antagonism, conflicts, and undue anxiety.
- Utilize keyboard and computer skills effectively.
Requirements
- Demonstrates effective oral and written communication skills.
- Must pass all competencies related to Medical Assistant duties.
- CPR certification required within 90 days of employment.
Qualifications
Preferred, but not required:
- Medical Assistant certification
- LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse)
- Pharmacy Technician certification
- Emergency Medical Technician certification
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant

Pay
Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standard Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. Non-exempt positions may include shift differential and/or overtime pay, if applicable.
Hourly rate: $20.00 - $27.77
Schedule
Emergency relief, as needed. Minimum of 24 hours per month required.
