About the Role

A professional multi-skilled individual dedicated to assisting in all aspects of medical practice, including administrative and clinical procedures under the direct supervision and responsibility of a licensed physician.

Responsibilities

  • Take patient's vital signs.
  • Prepare patients for the provider's care.
  • Assist with patient examinations or treatments.
  • Correctly document all entries in the medical record, either electronic or hard copy, to include signature, date, and time.
  • Administer medication as directed by and under the direct supervision of a licensed physician.
  • Observe and report patients' signs or symptoms.
  • Collect routine laboratory specimens as directed by the provider.
  • Administer basic first aid.
  • Participate in performance improvement projects.
  • Act as an active care team member in the coordination of patient care.
  • Provide a standard of excellence in customer service for patients, staff members, and other customers.
  • May travel to other clinics as part of additional duties.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED required at time of hire.
  • Completion of an MA program accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, a national or state medical association, or an agency approved by the board.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required—or within 6 months of hire.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
  • Medical Terminology Certificate preferred at time of hire.

Qualifications

  • 1 year of experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • 2–4 years of clerical/customer service experience, ideally in a healthcare-related industry, preferred.
  • 1 year of experience with third-party payors and computer data entry/review preferred.
