Medical Assistant, Transplant Clinic, Full-Time, Day Shift
Be a part of a world-class academic healthcare system at UChicago Medicine as a Medical Assistant with our Primary Care team at our Transplant Clinic. This is a 100% onsite opportunity based in the greater Chicagoland area.
About the role
The Medical Assistant will work under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), or Physician, assisting with clinical and administrative tasks to enhance patient care.
Responsibilities
- Know and practice UChicago Medicine’s Pride Values and Patient Centered Care principles.
- Perform duties involving direct patient care as assigned by the RN or physician within Nursing policies and procedures.
- Implement and document patient and family education as delegated by the RN or physician.
- Obtain and record vital signs.
- Perform tests specific to the patient population (e.g., pregnancy tests, urinalysis, hemocults).
- Document all aspects of patient care according to hospital policies and procedures.
- Perform phlebotomy services and assist with specimen collection.
- Label and log specimens in compliance with hospital standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Completed High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited body.
- Current certificate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training.
- Phlebotomy experience.
- Experience working in a community health setting.
- Completion of a certified/registered program for medical assistants recognized by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
- Graduate of a certified program for Medical Assistants (CMA credential).
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong verbal communication skills and ability to prioritize and organize work.
- Experience maintaining an organized, alphabetized filing system.
- Working knowledge of PC, Excel, Microsoft Word, OASIS, and EPIC.
- Computerized appointment scheduling experience.
- Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment.
- Skill in handling sensitive public contacts with discretion, tact, and courtesy.
- Physical ability to perform stocking, lifting, and transporting supplies and instruments.
Pay
The pay range for this full-time (1.0 FTE) position reflects current market data and is reviewed annually. Compensation at hire varies based on candidate qualifications, experience, and organizational considerations, such as internal equity.

- Shift: Days, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM
- Full-time (1.0 FTE)
