Responsibilities

  • Receive on-the-job paid training to earn certification as a Certified Medical Assistant through NHA within six months of employment.
  • Assists in patient care, including escorting patients to exam rooms, reviewing medical records, conducting pre-visit interviews, checking vital signs, documenting medical history, administering injections, and processing test results.
  • Coordinates clerical information to provide patient care and assists with patient follow-up.
  • In Community Care Management, assesses living environments and subjective symptoms, reports findings to providers, supports care plans, and follows up with patients post-hospital visits.
  • In Cardiology Clinic, prepares patients for examinations, assists with examinations, casts/splints applications, minor procedures, and educates patients on urine collection procedures.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information, answers and evaluates incoming calls, documents patient information in the electronic medical record, and coordinates referrals and treatments.
  • Prepares clinical documentation, office supplies, and equipment, cleans and sterilizes work areas, and ensures compliance with safety regulations.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Complete CCMA program with NAH and NHA and obtain Medical Assistant Certification within six months from date of hire
  • BLS (American Heart Association) certification within 90 days of hire
  • Fingerprint clearance card application number and card required upon hire
  • Obtain and maintain appropriate clinical competencies for assigned roles
