Job Description Summary
Aid physician and/or practice staff with administrative tasks involving both clinical and non-clinical skills. Duties include scheduling, messaging, medication refills, prior authorizations, referral completion, and other clerical duties.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Completion of a High School Medical Assistant Career Technical Program
- Graduation from an accredited School of Medical Assisting
- Completion of Military Medic training
- Certification as a Paramedic (EMT-P)
- At least one year of experience as a physician-trained Medical Assistant in a similar clinical setting
Responsibilities and Duties
- Facilitates efficient and effective patient flow, prepares patients for visits, and provides specific services as directed by providers.
- Completes Care Connect EMR documentation skills.
- Maintains and updates EMR in basket, cleans work area, and reports equipment malfunctions.
- Communicates respectfully and cares for patients and customers, collaborates with the health care team, and reports patient data.
- Maintains documentation guidelines, ensures processes and services are monitored for quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency, engages in process and quality improvement activities, and makes recommendations for operational efficiency and new services.
- Engages in continuous professional development, completes required training, promotes patient quality, safety, and experience initiatives, acts as a resource, and functions as a clinical preceptor.
- Ensures compliance with scope of practice and performs job duties focusing on safety, quality, and efficiency.
