Medical Assistant - Systemwide Resource Services

About the role

Scripps Health Administrative Services supports our five hospital campuses, 31 outpatient centers, clinics, emergency rooms, urgent care sites, along with our 17,000 employees, more than 3,000 affiliated physicians and 2,000 volunteers. These are benefited, full time positions generally working Monday-Friday and Saturdays as needed with varied shifts between the hours of 7am-7pm. Located at various Scripps campuses.

Responsibilities

• Floating to various clinics all over San Diego County across multiple specialties.
• Knowing their professional scope of practice as defined by the California Business and Professional Code and for successfully completing the Scripps Clinical Core competency program.
• Maintaining a clean, organized and safe environment.
• Organizing and performing patient care services that support the physician's practice, including:
• Aiding in preparing patients for examination/procedures.
• Aiding physicians with procedures.
• Relaying instructions from the physician to the patient or authorized person.
• Collecting patient data in person and by phone.
• Documenting patient concerns, messages, and care provided in the electronic medical record for the physician's review.
• Administering medications specifically directed by the physician.
• Performing vital sign documentation.
• Scheduling of appointments and procedures.
• Completing and accurate message taking.
• Routing messages to the appropriate area for direction.
• Ordering and referral entry.
• Acquiring pre-certifications.
• Setting up cases in EPIC.
• Basic registration and updating of demographics.

Requirements

• Completion of a formal Medical Assistant Program OR hold a Medical Assistant Certification OR have a minimum of two years of experience as a military corpsman.
• BLS certification for the Healthcare Provider by the American Heart Association (AHA).
• One year of experience working as a Medical Assistant.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience working as a Medical Assistant.
• Experience supporting two or more providers.
• Experience rooming 15 or more patients per day.

Skills

Knowledge of the California Business and Professional Code.

*You will receive an additional ~$3/hr for the Scripps Systemwide Resource Services (SSRS) Differential due to the travelling nature of this position within this department.

Pay

Position Pay Range: $25.95-$32.56/hour
