About the Role

Our Surgical Specialists Clinic in Daytona Beach is seeking a Medical Assistant to join our dynamic team. This role provides patient care in a physician's office setting under the direct responsibility of a licensed physician. The Medical Assistant performs clinical skills within the scope defined by Florida Statutes 458.3485 and UFHP Clinical Policy and Procedure, and may also handle clerical, insurance, and medical record functions. Flexibility to float to other UFHP practices for staffing needs may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care in a physician's office setting under the supervision of a licensed physician.
• Perform clinical skills within the scope of a Medical Assistant as defined by Florida law and clinic policy.
• Handle clerical, insurance, and medical record functions.
• Adapt to changing patient volumes and support a multi-specialty clinic.
• Float to other UFHP practices as needed for staffing.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited course of study as a Certified or Registered Medical Assistant.
• Accredited MA certifications include, but are not limited to, AAMA, NHA, NCCT, AMCA, AMT.
• EMT license may be used in lieu of an MA certification.
• One year of direct patient care experience in an ambulatory care setting is preferred.
• Must possess and maintain current certification or registration as a Medical Assistant.
• Basic Life Support (CPR) certification required (or must be obtained within the first ninety days of employment).
• CPR certification must be secured through the AHA or Red Cross.
