Medical Assistant - Substance Abuse Treatment Facility (SATF)

About the role

Under the administrative supervision of the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) II/III, Correctional Facility (CF), and the clinical supervision of a Physician and Surgeon, CF, or Physician and Surgeon, CF (Internal Medicine/Family Practice), the Medical Assistant (MA) provides support to primary care providers in a variety of health care settings.

Responsibilities

• Under the clinical direction of a provider or the valid authorization by a provider's order, performs patient oriented procedures
• Provides support to the Primary Care Team (PCT) for daily clinic operations
• Communicates effectively with patients and members of the PCT and other health care team members
• Performs administrative duties
• Addresses the ongoing needs of patients
• Works with physicians and other health care providers
• Promotes the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective use of health care resources

Requirements

Possession of a valid certificate from an agency approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs, Medical Board of California to practice as a Medical Assistant. Department of Consumer Affairs approved Agencies include:

You must have ACTIVE certification status prior to appointment into the classification.

Pay

The monthly salary range for this position is $3148.00 - $4140.00. Please note: Effective July 1, 2025, in accordance with the applicable Memorandum of Understanding, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) was implemented in response to the status of the State budget. PLP 2025 requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 20 and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees, will have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and will receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect the recent changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions as full-time employees, on a prorated basis equivalent to their time-base. Permanent intermittent employees are subject to the same condition as full-time employees, based on the number of hours worked in the pay period.

Schedule

This position is Part Time – 4/5 Time (.80), working 32 hours per week.
