Reporting to the Director of University Health Services, the Student Health Center Medical Assistant provides direct patient care in accordance with the Student Health Center’s standards and works alongside the team to assist with both administrative and clinical duties.
Responsibilities
- Maintain patient flow by monitoring arrivals, accompanying and/or assisting patients into exam rooms.
- Obtain patient vital signs and transcribe them to the patient medical record in a timely fashion; report abnormal vital signs to APN immediately.
- Perform a variety of diagnostic CLIA-waived point-of-care testing.
- Collect and process lab specimens.
- Maintain point-of-care testing logs.
- Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures as needed.
- Perform venipuncture procedure in accordance with clinical standards.
- Restock, clean, and prepare medical exam rooms and lab.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Completion of a formal medical assistant training program (NHA, NCCT, AMT, AAMA, NCMA, AMCA, AECA, or NAHP).
- Current CPR/AED certification.
- High school diploma.
Qualifications
- Six months of experience in a primary care setting preferred.
- Experience working with young adults and diverse populations, including LGBTQ+ patients.
Pay
$20.00–$23.00 hourly.
