Medical Assistant Student

About the role

This position is a part of Salina Regional Health Center's Medical Assistant (MA) Program with Barton Community College. Upon hire, the MA Student will actively enroll in the online MA program through Barton Community College.

Responsibilities

• Assists departments in clinical settings to provide quality care
• Schedules patient appointments
• Takes vital signs
• Transports patients
• Clerical support
• Observation & surveillance to prevent patient injury
• Helps the professional nurse with interventions
• Interacts with other departments as needed
• Performs cleaning
• Restocks supplies

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED
• Completion of a certified nursing assistant training course
• 1-2 years nurse assistant experience preferred
• Completion of CMA coursework within two years of hire

Required

• Basic Life Support certification from either American Red Cross/AED for the Health Care Provider, or Basic Life Support (American Heart Association- Health Care Provider) successfully completed within the first 90 days of employment
• Completion of medical assisting training program, offered through Salina Regional Health Center, within 1 year of hire
