About the Role

Under the direction of a physician/provider, the Medical Assistant (MA) is responsible for assisting in the examination and treatment of patients, delivering high-quality care and services, and maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in patient examinations and treatments.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA laws.
  • Follow CLIA and OSHA guidelines.
  • Perform sterilization and disinfection procedures.
  • Conduct EKGs and handle basic drugs in accordance with medical assistant best practices.
  • Utilize patient management software and basic Microsoft Office products (EPIC preferred).
  • Provide patient instruction using proper communication methods.
  • Implement safety practices to prevent workplace hazards and respond appropriately to exposure incidents.
  • Perform repetitive tasks and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Handle challenging patients and clients professionally.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Graduation from a Medical Assistant Program.
  • Current, nationally recognized Medical Assistant Certification or Registration (or obtained within 90 days of employment).
  • Current CPR certification (or obtained within 90 days of employment).
  • One year of medical assisting experience in an ambulatory/clinical setting preferred.
  • Basic computer literacy and working knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including excellent telephone and customer service skills.
  • Ability to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

Skills

  • Applying medical assistant principles, methods, and techniques to provide ongoing patient care.
  • Multi-tasking and prioritizing work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail.
  • Strong logic and reasoning for simple and complex problem-solving.

Schedule

Clinic hours are Monday through Friday, 8AM to 5PM. Actual scheduled hours may vary depending on business need.

Physical Requirements

  • May include standing, sitting, and/or walking for extended periods.
  • May include performing repetitive tasks.
  • May include working with challenging patients and clients.
  • May include lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasionally requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
