Role Overview
The Medical Assistant II performs advanced clinical duties, supporting one or more clinicians to enhance patient care and practice efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage patient flow, scheduling, and access to optimize appointment availability.
- Coordinate clinical support, including handling patient concerns, resolving operational issues, and ensuring compliance with procedures.
- Assist with patient documentation, review medical records, and verify prior authorizations.
- Handle third-party requests and support care improvement initiatives.
- Train and orient new staff, and may serve as a float across departments.
- Participate in electronic medical record upgrades and quality improvement activities.
Qualifications & Skills
- High School Diploma or GED; 1+ years of Medical Assistant experience (degree may substitute).
- Preferred: BLS certification, EMR proficiency, associate degree or certification in medical assisting, knowledge of testing procedures.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
