Medical Assistant Screening Specialist

This Medical Assistant (MA) Screening Specialist position plays a key role in reviewing and obtaining patient records, identifying outstanding care gaps, and performing outreach to schedule patients from screening pursuit lists in Senior Primary Care Clinics across multiple locations.

About the role

As a Medical Assistant at Intermountain Health, you will support the clinical team by providing patient care, communicating effectively with patients, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure high-quality care.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the direction of a clinician, assisting in gathering information relevant to the patient’s visit and condition.
• Communicate clearly with patients through telephone and in-person interactions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to coordinate patient care, ensuring attention to detail and follow-through.
• Review and obtain patient records, identify care gaps, and perform outreach to schedule patients from screening pursuit lists.

Requirements

• One of the following:
  • Proof of completion of a Medical Assistant program, or
  • At least one year of Medical Assistant work experience, or
  • Current active and in good standing RN/LPN license to practice nursing in the state of Utah.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers (must be obtained prior to start date).
• Demonstrated basic computer skills, including word processing and data entry.
• Professional manner with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with patients and caregivers to deliver high levels of customer/patient satisfaction.
• Commitment to protecting patient privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI).

Utah Only: If certified with less than one year of MA experience, caregivers may attend a yearlong MA residency program.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
• Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
• Current national MA certification from one of the following:
  • Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT,
  • National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA),
  • Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.

Schedule

• Full-Time (40 hours per week)
• Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

Pay

$20.07 - $28.59 per hour, dependent upon experience.

Location: Senior Primary Care Clinics Float (Blue Diamond, Buffalo, North Durango, Rainbow, Sun City, Tenaya, Valley, and West Charleston) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
