About the Practice

Center for Bone & Joint Surgery of the Palm Beaches is a multi-location medical practice devoted to the diagnosis and treatment of injuries and diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Our locations feature a staff of highly trained orthopedic surgeons, each with a specific area of expertise. We offer a team approach to patient care and provide a variety of on-site services for convenience and continuity, including X-ray, MRI, physical therapy, and aquatic therapy.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate communication between the patient and the provider during care:
  • Collect and share pertinent information with the provider
  • Receive and act on directives from the provider
• Prepare patients for visits with the provider, including:
  • Rooming patients and obtaining/documenting vitals
  • Reviewing intake paperwork and pulling up radiology images
  • Removing dressings, setting up for procedures, and preparing injections
  • Accurate data entry into the EMR
• Complete tasks associated with company initiatives such as PROs and Quality Payment Programs
• Maintain exam room standards, including restocking and cleaning rooms and tables daily
• Monitor and replace biohazard and sharps containers as needed
• Assist providers with preparing prescriptions and completing medical/patient forms (e.g., work release, FMLA)
• Retrieve and respond to voicemails within 24 business hours and document actions in the EMR
• Prepare patient electronic charts for clinic visits prior to the date of service:
  • Verify outstanding test results are in the EMR
  • Confirm patient appropriateness for the provider (body part and/or insurance)
  • Note imaging, DME, or casting needs prior to the visit
• Scan clinical documents into the EMR
• Print clinic schedules on the morning of the date of service
• Ensure patients receive education as indicated by the provider
• Manage EMR desktops of assigned providers in a timely manner
• Create and promote a positive patient experience
• Maintain a HIPAA-compliant environment
• Maintain a clean workspace
