Job Overview

The Medical Assistant (MA) provides clinical support to patients and assists care providers with clinical and administrative support.

Job Details: 1.0 FTE; 40 hours/week - eligible for benefits
Shift: Monday - Friday. Variable start between 0630 -0800 and end between 1500-1630. No weekends or holidays

Duties & Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for the health care visit by directing and/or accompanying them to the examining room; providing examination gowns and drapes; arranging examining room instruments, supplies, and equipment.
• Cleans or prepares for sterilization of medical instruments.
• Administers medications per policy and procedures.
• Telephones prescriptions to pharmacies.
• Verifies patient information by interviewing patient; reviewing and/or recording medical history; taking vital signs; confirming purpose of visit or treatment.
• Reports areas of concern to next care provider.
• Supports patient care delivery by assisting health care providers during examinations; preparing laboratory specimens; performing basic testing; disposing of contaminated supplies.
• Aids in balancing workloads, coordinating and maintaining clinic flow by coordinating with providers, and monitoring patient flow.
• Provides phlebotomy.
• Completes lab test follow up and medical record documentation.
• Prepares and completes medical record for visit by recording patient information, treatment, and test results.
• Assists with patient “MyChart” enrollment.
• Participates in the standardized education of patients through written instructions and answering questions as directed by provider.
• Independently initiates referrals and insurance pre-authorizations.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Graduation from accredited Medical Assistant Program

Salary Information

Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience.
Hourly Range: $20.00 to $25.99
