Medical Assistant - Pulmonary Medicine - Full Time

About the role

This position is primarily based at the K17 Pulmonary clinic in Detroit. However, the selected candidate may be required to provide coverage at another clinic, such as the Taylor location, based on staffing needs.

Responsibilities

• Greeting and escorting of patients to the exam room.
• Obtaining medical histories.
• The measurement and recording of vital signs.
• Preparing patients for an examination/procedure.
• Aiding the provider during the examination/procedure.

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred.
• Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills as related to ambulatory patient care preferred.
• Ability to problem-solve preferred.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred.
• Epic (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred.
• Professionally Recognized Medical Assistant Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA/CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Associations Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), and National Center for Competency Testing National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) preferred.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160 hour minimum).
• Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without completion of a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five (5) years.
• Certified with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in clinical medical assisting.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.
• Military trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in clinical medical setting within the past five (5) years.
