About the role

This position is responsible for administrative and clinical duties delegated by the physician. The Medical Assistant assists the physician with patient care in compliance with the Ohio Administrative Code. Responsibilities include routine clinical and administrative duties to meet the needs of the practice. Duties vary by office based on size and specialty.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates efficient and effective patient flow, including preparing the patient for the visit and providing services as determined by providers in accordance with licensure, policy, and scope of practice.
  • Completes Care Connect EMR documentation accurately.
  • Performs administrative duties to ensure all information is current and updated, including maintenance and monitoring of the EMR in-basket.
  • Maintains and cleans the environment, work area, and equipment; reports malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
  • Communicates with patients and customers respectfully and collaboratively.
  • Anticipates the needs of the healthcare team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Collects and monitors patient data; reports as directed.
  • Maintains documentation guidelines for patient chargeable items/services.
  • Monitors processes and services for quality, cost-effectiveness, and efficiency.
  • Engages in process and quality improvement activities; implements recommendations to improve operational efficiency and services.
  • Stays current with best practices in the professional field to maintain competence and skills.
  • Completes required continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements.
  • Promotes and advocates for patient quality, safety, and experience initiatives.
  • Serves as a subject-matter expert (SME) in areas such as quality, performance improvement, and EMR (e.g., EPIC Super User).
  • Oversees efficient patient flow, including preparing patients for visits and providing education as determined by providers.
  • Leads and supports the development of standard work and customizations.
  • Functions as a clinical preceptor and trains new staff.
  • Complies with scope of practice guidelines.
  • Focuses on safety, quality, and efficiency as part of a High Reliability Organization (HRO).

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED (Required).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Schedule

Variable scheduled weekly hours as needed.
