Medical Assistant - Psychiatry, Brunswick

About the role

Join the dedicated team at MaineHealth Behavioral Health's Outpatient Psychiatry practice in Brunswick, where compassionate care and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do. As a Medical Assistant, you'll play an essential role in supporting patients throughout their behavioral health journey while working alongside psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, nurses, therapists, and care coordinators in a collaborative outpatient setting.

Responsibilities

• Support patients throughout their behavioral health journey in an outpatient psychiatric practice
• Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, nurses, therapists, and care coordinators
• Build relationships with patients in a team-based environment

Required Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or GED preferred. Must meet one of the following: graduated from an accredited vocational institution or community college in Medical Assisting with 160 hours of clinical experience completed; OR completion of an Adult Education Medical Assistant program and 6 months of clinical experience in a practice setting; OR 1 year of clinical experience in a multi-provider practice setting (equivalent experience evaluated on a case-by-case basis)
• Certifications: Current AAMA, NHA, AMT, or NCCT certification required (prior to 5/01/25 MA IIs with 10 years MA experience and employed by MaineHealth as a MA in the most recent 5 years are exempt); Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date (fully remote care team members exempt); A NH Med Tech License, or NH EMT and National Registry EMT license is required for positions located in New Hampshire
• Experience: Six months of experience as a Medical Assistant or one year as a MaineHealth Clinical Team Assistant

Benefits

• Sign-on bonuses: $4,000 for 0-1 years of experience (full time); $5,000 for 1+ years of experience (full time). Bonus amount prorated for part time hires; per diem hires ineligible. Eligible candidates are hired into a Full or Part time MA position. Current MaineHealth member employees ineligible; former members ineligible until greater than 6 months separation

Pay

The pay range for this position is $21.09 to $27.12 per hour. Compensation for part-time positions is determined on a prorated basis consistent with scheduled hours and applicable full-time equivalent (FTE).
