About the role

The Medical Assistant (MA) Certified works under the supervision of the provider to assist with patient care, coordinate clerical information, and manage patient care plans.

Responsibilities

• Escorts patients to exam rooms and communicates wait times.
• Reviews and documents medical history, vital signs, and patient concerns.
• Administers injections and performs venipuncture/capillary punctures under supervision.
• Processes test results and communicates with patients.
• Conducts point-of-care testing and assesses referral and prescription needs.
• In Community Care Management: assesses living environment and reports to provider; supports care plans and follows up with patients.
• In Cardiology Clinic: prepares patients for examinations, assists with minor procedures, and instructs on urine collection.
• Maintains confidentiality and coordinates clerical information for patient care.
• Documents patient information accurately and completes necessary follow-up.
• Prepares clinical documentation, office supplies, and equipment; cleans and sterilizes work areas.
• Ensures compliance with safety regulations and maintains a safe work environment.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Medical Assistant Diploma from an accredited program or equivalent.
• A valid and active Medical Assistant Certification from AAMA, AMT, NCCT, or NHA.
• BLS (American Heart Association).
• Fingerprint Clearance Card.

Qualifications

• One year related job experience preferred.
• Current NAH Medical Assistant certification or completion of CCMA program with NAH and NHA.
• Knowledge of computer usage and basic software programs.
