Responsibilities
- Assist with office-based procedures following aseptic technique
- Hand off instruments
- Absorb specimens
- Perform low and high-level disinfection procedures
- Perform point-of-care (POC) testing
- Enter orders into computer
- Room patients
- Set up exam/procedure rooms
- Assist with patients, equipment preparation, aseptic technique, and surgical procedures in the exam/procedure room
- Prepare the exam/procedure room by assembling routine supplies, materials, instruments, and equipment
- Observe patient for possible symptoms indicating a change in condition and report to appropriate member of medical team for immediate action
- Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of sterile technique and infection control; practice appropriate procedures to maintain a sterile environment
- Chaperone and assist for every patient intimate examination
- Perform accurate POC testing
Requirements
- Medical Assistant certification from NHA, NCCT, AAMA, or AMT
- Current BLS from the American Heart Association upon hire
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Basic computer skills required
- One year work experience preferred
Skills
- Knowledge of sterile technique and infection control
- Ability to perform POC testing
