Responsibilities

  • Rooms patients, takes and documents vital signs, and prepares patients for provider exam.
  • Administers medication under physician’s direction and within the scope of practice as demonstrated by completion of training and testing.
  • Performs diagnostic testing such as EKGs, audiograms, typanograms, spirometry, and visual screenings as instructed and documents in EPIC EMR.
  • Reviews and processes refill requests for medications, including those from the provider’s refill basket and daily requests.
  • Reviews and calls patients regarding normal lab results.
  • Maintains supply inventory levels and cleans and maintains medical equipment.
  • Cleans patient rooms as needed, including handling dirty laundry.
  • Ensures the laundry cart is stocked with fresh linens daily.
  • Carries out tasks as directed by nursing team leader or supervisor.
  • Follows clinic protocols and provides patients with educational materials as directed.
  • Adheres to company policies, including OSHA, HIPAA, compliance, and Code of Conduct.
  • Works holiday shifts as required by Company policy.
  • Answers incoming phone calls for nursing triage, determining if the call is low or high acuity, and routing appropriately.
  • Assists with patient care, including medication refills, referral questions, and lab record requests.
  • Maintains equipment and performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Required to meet one of the following: Medical Assistant experience, CNA/EMT/PCT experience, or graduate of a medical assistant program.
  • Six (6) months or more experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, excellent organizational and phone listening skills, ability to multi-task, excellent customer service skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, ability to work in a team environment, excellent computer and keyboarding skills, ability to engage others, listen, and adapt responses, ability to align actions with team goals, excellent computer and keyboarding skills, ability to manage competing priorities, ability to perform job duties professionally, ability to understand, recall, and communicate factual information, ability to understand, recall, and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, ability to apply common sense in performing job.
  • Medical Assistant certification preferred.
  • Current AHA-approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Card.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: Six (6) months or more experience as a Medical Assistant preferred.
  • Licenses & Certifications: Medical Assistant certification preferred; current AHA-approved Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider Card.
