Job Description
Aid physicians with medical procedures in the office setting. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance. Key areas of responsibility include:
- Performing quality control procedures before patient testing.
- Conducting laboratory blood work and blood draws.
- Maintaining accurate and precise technical laboratory procedures.
- Preparing blood or bone marrow slides for evaluation.
- Sending lab results to appropriate facilities as per patient's insurance.
- Documenting test results and preparing encounter forms.
- Assisting with medical procedures such as bone marrows, fine needle aspirates, paracentesis, and pelvic exams.
- Documenting all critical blood counts and obtaining relevant scans and CDs.
- Maintaining inventory and ordering supplies as needed.
- Initiating troubleshooting procedures for instrument malfunctions.
- Communicating with physicians and maintaining patient records.
- Training new employees as needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- BLS certification required.
- Valid driver's license for travel to other clinic locations.
- One year of experience as a medical assistant in a clinic or physician's office.
