Job Description

Aid physicians with medical procedures in the office setting. Responsibilities include phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance. Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Performing quality control procedures before patient testing.
  • Conducting laboratory blood work and blood draws.
  • Maintaining accurate and precise technical laboratory procedures.
  • Preparing blood or bone marrow slides for evaluation.
  • Sending lab results to appropriate facilities as per patient's insurance.
  • Documenting test results and preparing encounter forms.
  • Assisting with medical procedures such as bone marrows, fine needle aspirates, paracentesis, and pelvic exams.
  • Documenting all critical blood counts and obtaining relevant scans and CDs.
  • Maintaining inventory and ordering supplies as needed.
  • Initiating troubleshooting procedures for instrument malfunctions.
  • Communicating with physicians and maintaining patient records.
  • Training new employees as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Valid driver's license for travel to other clinic locations.
  • One year of experience as a medical assistant in a clinic or physician's office.
