Medical Assistant, Primary Care Clinic, 32 Hour, Days
About the role
This position is open to current UMass Memorial Health caregivers. It is a non-exempt role with a hiring range of $20.60 - $31.94 per hour. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with flexible shift options including Day Shift, 8 hours.
Responsibilities
- Escorts patients to examination rooms
- Takes and records vital signs
- Collections and documents patient health status
- Performs EKGs, phlebotomy, and POC tests
- Prepares, documents, and administers non-intravenous injections
- Aids in physical examinations and clinical procedures
- Reviews and documents laboratory results
- Communicates patient observations to licensed clinicians
- Sets up and prepares examination rooms
- Assists in moving and positioning patients
- Maintains patient equipment and supplies
- Processes prescriptions and refills
- Performs clerical duties such as typing, filing, and scheduling
- Collaborates with insurers for coverage verification
- Collects co-payments from patients
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Heart Saver (HS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Medical Assistant credential, approved by the Massachusetts Department of Health
