Responsibilities
- Collect selected data about the health status of patients, including vital signs, and record pertinent information in the medical record.
- Determine the purpose of patient visits, address concerns, and assess educational and physical needs.
- Recognize urgent or emergent situations and refer them promptly to a physician or nurse.
- Participate in developing and implementing nursing care plans, ensuring accurate documentation and communication of care plans to the team.
- Coordinate and facilitate patient care, communicating effectively with team members to accomplish workloads.
- Identify and report psychosocial, cultural, and emotional needs of patients.
- Verify patient understanding of the visit’s purpose and orient patients and families to Kaiser Permanente’s services and policies.
- Provide health education and preventive care information tailored to the patient’s age, sex, and health status under the direction of a professional provider.
- Encourage patient compliance with therapeutic and medical regimens.
- Ensure a safe, comfortable, and private environment for patients, adhering to safety and infection control policies.
- Demonstrate accountability for practice, continued growth, and self-evaluation, including identifying learning needs and participating in educational activities.
- Participate in staff orientation, student education, and performance reviews.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
- Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program prior to start date, or equivalent military experience with the ability to obtain an MA-I certification prior to start date.
- Interim Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) or Medical Assistant Certificate (Washington) required at hire; full certification must be obtained within 12 months if hired as an MA-I.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at hire.
- Must meet the Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Washington Medical Assistant Competencies/Skills Inventory.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1 year of Medical Assistant experience.
Schedule
- Full-time, standard shift: Monday through Friday, 08:00 AM to 05:00 PM.
- Scheduled weekly hours: 40.
Pay
The posted pay range for this role is $27.71 - $41.24 per hour. Actual base pay will be determined based on labor market data, internal alignment, and a candidate’s relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location.
Work Setting
- Onsite at Capitol Hill South Building, Seattle, Washington.
- No travel required.
