About the role
The Medical Assistant (MA) assists physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and nurses with evaluations, management, and treatment of patients during and between office visits. They are the primary liaison between clinical staff and patients and play an active role in preparing for daily patient visits.
Responsibilities
- Prepares for the daily operations of patient visits
- Implements key activities
- Leads twice daily huddle sessions to communicate pertinent patient information among clinical staff
- Ensures all appropriate materials are available for effective and efficient care delivery
- Manages HealtheLife requests
- Ensures patients comprehend medical treatment information provided by providers
- Follows up with patients using the best medium to ensure treatment plan compliance
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Graduate of an Accredited Medical Assistant program or hold a Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA, CCMA, RMA, NCMA)
- A minimum of two years of experience working in a physician office
- A current active BLS certification (with in-person component)
- Ability to move 15 pounds or more, including placing infants and children on examination tables or weighing scales
- Excellent critical thinking, communication, interpersonal, diplomacy, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Phlebotomy skills
- To maintain CPR certification and participate in site-based CPR drills
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a complex and busy environment and complete them
