Medical Assistant, Primary Care

About the role
We are seeking a full-time, 40-hour Medical Assistant to support our Primary Care suite onsite Monday through Friday from 9:30am to 6:00pm. As true partners to our providers, our Medical Assistants work autonomously to the top of their education and certification while functioning as part of the care team. Clinical support staff rotate specialties depending on daily assignments, so the ideal candidate is an experienced, adaptable Medical Assistant who enjoys variety. Staff typically work 1:1 or 1:2 with assigned providers but cross-cover and collaborate as needed, seeing upwards of 20+ patients per day.
Responsibilities
- Assist junior Medical Assistants with day-to-day questions and responsibilities; participate in onboarding training.
- Escort patients to examination rooms, prepare equipment, interview patients to obtain medical information, measure vital signs, weight, and height, and record information in medical records.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients; order and organize educational materials to reinforce patient education.
- Perform general office duties such as answering phones, taking dictation, completing insurance forms, and acting as a liaison with other departments while advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
- Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing; perform phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
- Maintain inventory of immunizations and check expiration dates.
- Provide immunizations (as applicable) with certification or 3 years of experience administering vaccines under provider supervision.
- Support departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required; Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification preferred.
- Certified Medical Assistant (National Certification) preferred.
- 1-2 years of direct Medical Assistant experience or medical field work required.

Pay
Pay range starts at $22.75 per hour (Grade 3). The final offer will consider skills, relevant experience, education, certifications, and other essential factors.
