About the role

Under the direction of a licensed professional, the Medical Assistant performs and oversees functions within scope of practice related to clinical activities, including maintaining patient flow, assisting in the delivery of health care, performing technical procedures, and other clinically-oriented activities. This role supports physicians, clinic staff, and management to ensure efficient operations and promote customer satisfaction through the "Service First" philosophy.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate efficient and effective patient flow, including preparing patients for visits/admissions and providing services and education as directed by providers.
  • Perform administrative duties to ensure all information is current and updated, including maintenance and monitoring of electronic health records.
  • Maintain and clean the work environment, equipment, and report any malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
  • Greet and communicate with patients and families respectfully, collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure continuity and quality of care.
  • Collect, monitor, and report patient data/needs to licensed team members, following documentation standards.
  • Demonstrate high ethical standards, advocate for privacy and confidentiality, and adhere to organizational values and policies.
  • Engage in continuous professional development, including required training and education.
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments by preparing patients and ensuring supplies/equipment are available.
  • Prepare, administer, and document medications within scope of practice as directed by the provider.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an accredited, hands-on competency-based Medical Assistant training program (online-only programs do not qualify).
  • One of the following certifications within 120 days of hire:
    • CMA - AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants)
    • CCMA - NHA (National Healthcareer Association)
    • NCMA - NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing)
    • NRCMA - NAHP (National Association for Health Professionals)
    • RMA - AMT (American Medical Technologists)
  • One of the following certifications within 90 days of hire:
    • BLS - AHA (American Heart Association)
    • BLS - ARC (American Red Cross)

Preferred:

  • 1 year of relevant experience working in a physician practice or healthcare setting.
