VIVO Infusion is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our team in Boulder, CO. In this role, you will play a crucial role in our clinical operations by providing essential support to our medical team, patients, and the infusion center, delivering safe and compassionate care in accordance with all external and internal guidelines and regulations.

About the role

This position requires prior administrative experience, strong initiative, and the ability to work independently. Some days may involve working alone to support administrative functions and intake medical deliveries, even when no patients are scheduled.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of patient care activities, ensuring quality care in accordance with standards of practice.
  • Room clinic patients in person or virtually and update patient charts with required information.
  • Communicate pertinent patient data to providers and nurses to ensure quality and continuity of patient care.
  • Provide administrative and front-end support: greet patients, assist with scheduling, manage phone calls (incoming and outgoing), and process payments.
  • Oversee and ensure efficient turnover of exam rooms.
  • Assist providers in the exam room as requested.
  • Collect, prepare, and submit ordered patient lab specimens as directed.
  • Assist the Patient Services team in obtaining prior authorizations for prescribed treatments and document them.
  • Triage patient phone calls and messages and document them appropriately.
  • Order and manage supplies under the direction of the manager.
  • Disinfect and stock exam rooms.
  • Assist in obtaining records required for the patient’s chart.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, reporting patient issues as needed throughout the treatment day.
  • Follow company policies and CDC guidelines for infection control.
  • Assist with proper handling and storage of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all company and patient records in adherence to HIPAA.
  • Communicate schedule changes to the team and assist with rescheduling patients.
  • Manage incoming mail and deliveries.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent, required.
  • Medical Assistant Certification, preferred.
  • CPR/BLS certification, required prior to start date.
  • 1 year of experience working within a clinical environment, required.
  • 1 year in an administrative, patient-facing, or customer service role, required.
  • Phlebotomy and lab processing skills, preferred.

Skills

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently as needed.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with staff, patients, and physicians.
  • Computer skills for electronic recordkeeping.
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

Pay

$22.00 - $24.00/hour

Schedule

Per Diem
Tuesday - Wednesday | 7:30am - 4:00pm
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Work Environment and Physical Demands

The work environment involves regular exposure to moving mechanical parts (medical equipment and machinery), potential exposure to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is usually moderate.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color differentiation, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The role requires standing, walking, talking, hearing, and smelling. Excellent visual acuity and manual dexterity are necessary.

The employee is frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms. The position may involve sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, or crawling. Use of safety equipment and PPE (e.g., face shield, goggles, non-slip shoes, gloves, mask) may be required.
