This role provides support for pediatric walk-in and scheduled immunization visits during the busy flu season. The position is seasonal, with an anticipated start date as soon as possible and an expected end date of February 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Providing Patient Care: Under the direction of the Clinician, assist the provider in gathering information relative to the patient’s visit and condition.
  • Effective Communication: Communicate clearly with patients through telephone and in-person interactions.
  • Team Collaboration: Work with cross-functional teams to collaborate on patient care, ensuring attention to detail and follow-through.

Requirements

  • Proof of completion of a Medical Assistant program or at least one year of Medical Assistant work experience or current active and in good standing RN/LPN license to practice nursing in the state of Utah.
  • Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers (must be obtained prior to start date).
  • Demonstrated basic computer skills involving word processing and data entry.
  • Professional manner and strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver high customer/patient satisfaction.
  • Ability to protect privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI) of patients, members, and caregivers.
  • Utah Only: If certified with less than one year of MA experience, caregivers may attend a yearlong MA residency program.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
  • Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
  • Current national MA certification from one of the following: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.

Physical Requirements

  • Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, and identify equipment and supplies.
  • Frequent interactions requiring clear verbal communication, hearing, and understanding of spoken information, alarms, and patient needs, especially during emergencies.
  • Manual dexterity for precise manipulation of complex and delicate equipment, including frequent computer use and typing for documentation and medication preparation.
  • Ability to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients, bend to retrieve and carry supplies, and lift heavy items.
  • Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients, pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items, often in crowded or busy rooms.
  • May be required to stand in a stationary position for extended periods.
  • For roles requiring driving: Ability to drive a vehicle, including sitting for long periods, seeing and reading signs, and navigating traffic.

Schedule

  • Tuesday – Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
  • Scheduled weekly hours: 36

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $20.07 - $28.59, with the actual rate dependent upon experience.
