Medical Assistant - Pediatrics

We're seeking a compassionate and innovative individual to join our team at OptumCare. This position supports a clinical team dedicated to providing high-quality, integrated healthcare services.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms.
• Perform hand washing, weigh patients, take vital signs, and document chief complaints.
• Administer limited injections under supervision.
• Communicate with patients regarding lab results, physician orders, and medication instructions.
• Register patients, schedule appointments, verify insurance, and handle customer account transactions.
• Manage medical supply inventory and prepare exam rooms.
• Provide customer assistance, including handling payments and managing no-show lists.
• Complete basic Medical Assistant competencies and department-specific tasks.
• Coordinate specialty referrals and appointments.
• Complete prior authorizations for various services.
• Support the revenue cycle process.
• Work independently and demonstrate a willingness to learn.

Requirements

• High School diploma or GED.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant program or relevant experience.
• BLS certification or completion within 30 days of hire.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Proficiency in Windows and MS Office applications.
• Ability to type and enter data efficiently and accurately.

Preferred Qualifications

• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) Certification.
• 1+ years of related experience.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.
• Attention to detail and multi-tasking abilities.

Pay and Schedule

The hourly pay for this role ranges from $18.25 to $25.00 per hour based on full-time employment. We comply with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
