About the role

A Medical Assistant at Intermountain Health plays a vital role in supporting the clinical team, ensuring patients receive the best care in an ambulatory clinic setting. This position involves caring for patients with acute and chronic needs through clear communication and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care under the direction of the clinician by assisting the provider in gathering information relevant to the patient’s visit and condition.
• Communicate clearly with patients through various modalities, including telephone and in-person interactions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver coordinated patient care, emphasizing attention to detail and follow-through.
• Protect patient privacy, confidentiality, and Protected Health Information (PHI).
• Operate complex and delicate medical equipment with precision, including frequent computer use for documenting patient care, accessing information, and medication preparation.
• Lift and transfer patients, utilizing full range of motion, and retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights, including heavy items.
• Navigate crowded and busy clinical environments, including pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment.
• Stand for extended periods and assist with transporting/ambulating patients.
• For roles requiring driving: Operate a vehicle, including sitting for extended periods and reading traffic signs and signals.

Requirements

• Successful completion of a Medical Assistant Program or one year of Medical Assistant experience or a current RN/LPN license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for healthcare providers (must be obtained prior to start date).
• Demonstrated basic computer skills, including word processing and data entry.
• Professional manner with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with patients and fellow caregivers to deliver high levels of customer/patient satisfaction.
• Utah Only: If certified with less than one year of MA experience, participation in a yearlong MA residency program may be required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in an outpatient clinic or other healthcare setting.
• Computer literacy in using electronic medical records (EMR) systems and other relevant software.
• Current national MA certification from one of the following: Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) of AMT, National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) of the AAMA.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is $20.07 - $28.59, with the actual rate dependent upon experience.

Schedule

This is a full-time position with 40 scheduled weekly hours.

Location: Central Orem Clinic, Orem, Utah.
