About the role
Beloit Health System is adding a Medical Assistant to our team at Beloit Clinic Pediatrics. Shift: 1st Schedule: 8a-5p Hours per week: 36 hours per week Benefits Status: Benefits Eligible Department: Beloit Clinic Pediatrics
Responsibilities
- Aid in rooming patients
- Maintain patient flow
- Return phone messages
- Obtain patient histories and vital signs
- Administer medications
- Assist with diagnostic procedures and/or treatments
- Maintain and update medical records
- Stock rooms
- Assist with medical emergencies
- Schedule appointments
- Complete pre-certifications
- Complete patient forms
- Refill medications per protocol
- Assist with clinical duties
- Order supplies
- Clean exam rooms
- Prepare patient documentation and medical record
- Escort patients to room
- Obtain vitals and update medical record
- Prepare patient for examination or procedure
- Ensure consent is signed and dated for procedures and perform "Time out" with Physician/LIP when appropriate
- Assist Physician/LIP with examinations and/or procedures
- Administer medications ordered by Physicians/LIP and update medical record after administering medication
- Maintain and update accurate electronic medical record
- Receive and handle telephone calls to department
- Assist with triaging calls under supervision of a licensed health care professional
- Aid in educating patients and families
- Schedule patients for appointments
- Ensure patient safety while handling, transporting and providing medications to patients
- Protect patients from various hazards, falls, disease exposure, etc.
- Review basic physical, psychological and social needs of patients and their families
- Adhere to infection control policies
- Perform unit specific duties according to established unit-based competencies
- Participate in quality assurance activities
- Affirm timely completion of assigned duties
Requirements
- Must be CPR certified within 3 months of hire
- Must be Certified or Registered as Medical Assistant at time of employment
- Must have Strong critical thinking abilities
- Must have Excellent verbal and written communication and counseling skills
- Two years clinical experience desirable
- Preferred Experience with Electronic Medical Records and prior experience in Pediatrics
Qualifications
- Reporting Relationship: Team Lead RN/MA, Clinical Manager and/or Department Director
