About the role

The Medical Assistant with pediatrics clinical experience will join our team at our Fair Oaks clinic, playing a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our medical facility. This position provides both back office clinical support and front office administrative support as needed. The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, primarily at assigned site(s), with occasional travel to nearby sites for training or staffing support.

Responsibilities

  • Administrative Duties:
    • Reception, answer phones, and schedule appointments
    • Verify insurance eligibility and coordinate with insurance companies for proper billing procedures
    • Assist patients with registration forms and maintain accurate files and medical records
    • Perform data entry related to patient billing, transcription, and insurance claims
    • Arrange for referrals and process prescription requests
    • Track inventory and supplies
    • Follow legal and ethical standards in all tasks
  • Clinical Duties:
    • Measure and record vital signs, patient interview, history, and chief complaint
    • Provide patient education on medication, disease management, home treatment, and special diets
    • Prepare patients for examination and perform routine screening tests
    • Assist healthcare providers with exams
    • Perform phlebotomy, collect lab specimens, conduct basic lab tests, EKGs, and assist with x-rays and procedures
    • Prepare and administer medications with healthcare provider's authorization
    • Change dressings, apply bandages, remove sutures, perform CPR, and other first aid procedures
    • Maintain supplies and equipment, stock and sterilize instruments

Requirements

  • 2 years of Medical Assistant experience
  • Clinical experience with pediatrics
  • Medical Assistant (MA) certification
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bilingual fluency preferred (Dari, Farsi, Russian, Spanish)
  • Effective organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to learn and adapt to the needs of the clinic
  • Willingness to travel to other site(s) as scheduled or needed
