This position assists clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care, implementing and evaluating direct patient care. You will work alongside physicians and healthcare staff dedicated to a positive patient experience in a fast-paced, energetic clinic serving a vast age range of patients. Responsibilities
- Prepares patient for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, and other measurements; documents chief complaint and pain scores.
- Reports changes in patient condition to the clinician.
- Assists providers with exams and minor in-office procedures, including blood pressure, respiration, heart rate, temperature, phlebotomies, ear irrigation, and EKGs.
- Acts as a chaperon as needed.
- Uses universal blood and body fluid precautions and personal protective equipment.
- Prioritizes patient flow through the clinical process.
- Coordinates and manages patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling for clinic, hospital, and ancillary treatments.
- Communicates test results to patients.
- Acts as a resource to clinicians to optimize patient care.
- Administers medications in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Provides clerical support, including patient notifications and documentation (e.g., medical records, labs, authorizations, X-rays, hospital records).
- Ensures complete and accurate billing information for patient encounters in a timely manner.
- Maintains a clean, functional environment, including disinfection of equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas.
- Follows manufacturer recommendations and OSHA guidelines for handling hazardous substances.
- Performs basic maintenance of equipment and coordinates repairs.
- Orders and stocks supplies for patient care areas.
- Manages medication ordering, expired medications/equipment, and recalls.
- Develops and maintains effective communication with external and internal customers.
- Completes on-boarding/orientation activities, including simulation training as required.
Requirements
- High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge.
- Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.
- Active Medical Assistant Certification required (e.g., RMA, CMA, CCMA, NCMA). Certification must meet Meaningful Use requirements.
- BLS certification required.
- Strong computer skills, including experience with medical software.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple changing priorities effectively.
Employees working in behavioral health clinical settings serving children must possess an Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card and sign an Arizona Criminal History Affidavit.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with office medical procedures, treatments, insurance, managed care operations, EMR, and scheduling software.
Schedule
- Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 7:30 AM – 5:00 PM
- Tuesday: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Pay
- $1,000 Sign-On Bonus after 45 days of employment.
- $1,000 Sign-On Bonus after 12 months of employment.
