About the role
Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women & Children is Hawai'i's only maternity, newborn, and pediatric specialty hospital. It is recognized as Hawai'i's leader in women, infant, and child care. The hospital has 253 beds and delivers 6,000 babies annually, serving as both a medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric and adult care, critical care air transport, and high-risk perinatal care. Over 1,400 employees and more than 700 physicians provide specialized care.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide variety of patient care activities for clients of all ages under the supervision of physicians and medical staff.
- Assist in providing thorough health services to patients and their families.
- Participate in the dedicated team that ensures the highest quality health care to Hawai‘i's people.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and/or equivalent experience.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), ABR-OE from AAMA, RMA from AMT, NCMA from NCCT, RMA from ARMA, NRCMA from NAHP, CMAC from AMCA, or CCMA from NHA certification.
- American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card.
- Ability to complete departmental competency assessment by the end of the orientation period.
- Six (6) months medical assistant experience or completion of HPH Medical Assistant Program preferred.
- Knowledge of CPT and/or ICD-10 Coding preferred.
- Experience with electronic medical records preferred.
