Medical Assistant - Pearlridge, Internal Medicine

About the role

As a Medical Assistant in our Internal Medicine department at Straub Pearlridge, you will join the dedicated team of physicians and medical staff that provide our recognized compassionate health services to patients and their families. You will perform a wide variety of patient care activities.

Responsibilities

• Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, updating patient records, and processing insurance claims.
• Assist physicians during patient visits by taking vital signs, preparing examination rooms, and assisting with diagnostic procedures.
• Administer medications as directed by a physician, ensuring accuracy and compliance with medication administration protocols.
• Collect specimens for laboratory testing and maintain proper storage and handling of specimens.
• Provide patient education and counseling regarding health maintenance, disease prevention, and self-care techniques.
• Handle correspondence and communicate effectively with patients, families, and other healthcare providers.

Requirements

• High school or equivalent.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Program and/or equivalent experience.
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), OR Assessment Based Recognition in Order Entry (ABR-OE) from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from the American Medical Technologist (AMT), OR Nationally Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) from the National Center for Competency testing (NCCT), OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) from American Registry of Medical Assistants, OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) from National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), OR Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) from the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) from the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).
• Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Card.

• Must be able to complete departmental competency assessment by conclusion of orientation period.

Skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and procedures.
• Basic computer skills, including proficiency with electronic medical records systems.

Pay

Pay Range: 27.79 - 29.25 USD per hour
