Medical Assistant Outpatient Oncology

About the role

The Medical Assistant is an adaptable, dependable member of the patient care team, providing both administrative and clinical support to ensure smooth clinic operations. This role delivers high-quality, compassionate care while enhancing clinic efficiency and patient experience. Cross-training in patient registration and medical records support may be available. Teammates must be willing to work assigned shifts at multiple clinic locations and drive between clinics as needed (mileage reimbursed).

Responsibilities

• Live and exemplify TOI core values, providing outstanding customer service and promoting a positive experience for patients and staff.
• Participate in company initiatives and team activities.
• Document in electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
• Request external medical records and prepare patient charts prior to appointments.
• Perform and document patient vital signs, review of systems, and intake documentation.
• Prepare patients for physician care and assist with examinations, procedures, or treatments.
• Administer basic first aid, venipunctures, non-intravenous injections, and certain medications as directed by the physician.
• Perform basic laboratory procedures and observe/report patient signs or symptoms.
• Serve as a chaperone during patient examinations as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school graduate or GED.
• Completion of a Medical Assistant Diploma program from an accredited institution.
• Medical Assistant Certificate preferred but not required.
• 2+ years of experience as a Medical Assistant or in a related role in an outpatient clinic/medical office (preferred).
• BLS and CPR certification (preferred).
• Bilingual in Spanish and English (preferred).

Pay

Estimated hourly range: $21.94—$26.85 USD. Actual salary may vary based on skills, experience, and comparison to existing employees in the role.
