Location: 2799 W Grand Blvd, Detroit, MI 48202
Shift: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM (no weekends, holidays, or on-call)
$2,000 sign-on bonus
About the role
Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients.
Responsibilities
- Greet and escort patients to the exam room
- Obtain medical histories
- Measure and record vital signs
- Prepare patients for examination or procedure
- Assist the provider during the examination or procedure
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
- Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred
- Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills related to ambulatory patient care preferred
- Ability to problem-solve preferred
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred
- EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred
- Current BLS-C upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation
Qualifications
One of the following:
- Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160-hour minimum)
- Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five years
- Current professionally recognized Medical Assistant Certification (AAMA/CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA) with a minimum of five years of experience in clinical medical assisting
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Licensed Paramedic or Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in a medical setting within the past five years
- Military-trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in a medical setting within the past five years
Professionally recognized Medical Assistant Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA/CMA), American Medical Technologists (RMA), National Health Career Associations Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), or National Center for Competency Testing National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) preferred.
