About the Role

Join the Orthopaedics team at UChicago Medicine’s DCAM - Hyde Park clinic as a Medical Assistant. This is a 100% onsite opportunity based in the greater Chicagoland area. The South Loop location provides comprehensive adult and pediatric primary and specialty care in a vibrant neighborhood near downtown Chicago. You will assist with medical exams, immunizations, injury treatment, and chronic illness management under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), or Physician.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to UChicago Medicine’s Pride Values and Patient Centered Care principles.
  • Perform clinical and administrative tasks under the supervision of an RN or physician, including direct patient care within Nursing policies and procedures.
  • Implement and document patient and family education as delegated.
  • Obtain and record vital signs.
  • Conduct tests such as pregnancy tests, urinalysis, and hemocults.
  • Document all aspects of patient care according to hospital policies.
  • Perform phlebotomy services and assist with specimen collection, labeling, and logging.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completed High School diploma or equivalent from an accredited body.
  • Current certificate of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
  • Experience working in a community health setting.
  • Completion of a certified/registered program for medical assistants recognized by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Graduate of a certified program for Medical Assistants (CMA credential).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong verbal communication skills, ability to prioritize and organize work, and maintain an organized filing system.
  • Working knowledge of PC, Excel, Microsoft Word, OASIS, and EPIC.
  • Experience with computerized appointment scheduling.
  • Ability to handle stress in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skill in managing sensitive public contacts with discretion, tact, and courtesy.
  • Physical ability to perform stocking, lifting, and transporting supplies and instruments.

Schedule

Full-time (1.0 FTE) position with 8-hour day shifts from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. No on-call shifts required. The role is 100% onsite at the DCAM - Hyde Park clinic.

Pay

The pay range reflects the anticipated wage or salary for the position based on full-time employment (1.0 FTE) and current market data. Compensation at hire will vary based on candidate qualifications, experience, and organizational considerations such as internal equity.
