Medical Assistant or Medical Assistant Trainee, Norton Vascular Associates - Requires Travel, Days

Responsibilities

• Requires travel to the following Vascular Associates offices: Dupont Rd., Audubon, Downtown, Dixie, Brownsboro, Shelbyville, Clarksville, Elizabethtown, Campbellsville, Leitchfield, and Corydon, IN.
• Performs administrative and clinical duties under the direct supervision of a medical provider.
• Aids in direct patient care and serves as the clinical liaison between physician and patient and between physician and the office staff.
• Promotes communication among all care providers, patients, and office staff regarding the care plan for the patient as defined by the attending physician.
• Works closely with the physician in the practice/center clinical setting.
• Utilizes age-appropriate principles of growth and development for patients of all ages according to the practice specialty.

Administrative Functions

• Taking patients to rooms
• Greeting patients
• Obtaining vital signs
• Scheduling appointments
• Assisting with medical procedures
• Answering phones
• Performing phlebotomy
• Clerical & computer work
• Obtaining lab specimens
• Prior authorizations
• Adhering to safety and infection guidelines
• Billing and coding
• Maintaining electronic medical records (EMR)
• Faxing
• Calculating & administering medications & vaccinations
• Disability & Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) paperwork

Qualifications

• Required for Medical Assistant: Graduate of a medical assistant program (or) One year as a Medical Assistant
• Required for Medical Assistant Trainee: High School Diploma
• No experience required. We provide comprehensive on the job training.
