About the role
As a Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Monument Health, you will work collaboratively to provide direct and indirect patient care in the ambulatory clinic setting. You will actively participate as a member of the healthcare team, performing assigned tasks in accordance with Monument Health policies and procedures to meet patient needs. Sign-on bonuses: Up to $5,000 for qualified Medical Assistant candidates; up to $10,000 for qualified LPN candidates.
Responsibilities
- Prepare examination and treatment areas per clinic standards.
- Complete patient rooming procedures, including vital signs, data collection, and other clinic-specific components within outlined scope.
- Administer and document unit dose medications/immunizations in accordance with clinic policy after successful training/competency.
- Perform EKGs and laboratory testing per CLIA license of the clinic following successful training/competency.
- Ensure accurate, clear, and concise documentation in the patient record within outlined scope of responsibilities.
- May function as a provider scribe following successful training.
- Complete assigned clerical activities and supply maintenance/ordering as directed.
- Assist with scheduling follow-up care/appointments as ordered/directed.
- Distribute pre-printed/pre-approved patient education materials and direct patient questions to the provider or RN.
- Function within the documented Monument Health Scope of Responsibilities.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program or accredited training facility.
- Medical Assistant-Certified (MA) by one of the following certifying bodies:
- American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)
- American Medical Technologists (AMT)
- National Healthcareer Association (NHA)
- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
- American Medical Certification Association (AMCA)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Professional Certification (American Heart Association) within 60 days of hire or transfer. Some departments may require certification sooner.
- Preferred: Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing.
- Preferred: Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification (South Dakota Board of Nursing).
- Preferred: 1+ years of clinical or healthcare experience.
Pay
- Medical Assistant: $20.45–$23.51/hour
- Licensed Practical Nurse: $25.00–$28.73/hour
Pay rate determined by the knowledge, skills, and experience of the applicant.
Schedule
- Full-time: 40 hours per week
- Shift: As determined by the department
Physical Requirements
Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues.
