Physicians Care, with 11 locations throughout Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee, is an affiliate of Urgent Team, one of the largest independent operators of urgent and family care centers in the Southeast. The centers provide quality and affordable family healthcare, including treatments for injuries and illnesses, occupational health, and wellness care. All Physicians Care centers are Accredited Care Centers by the Urgent Care Association, open seven days a week: Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
About the Role
The Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to ensure exceptional patient care. Responsibilities include preparing patients, taking vitals, assisting providers, and maintaining accurate records.
Responsibilities
- Promptly greets patients when entering waiting area, exam room, laboratory, or x-ray room.
- Consistently communicates with patients on wait times; provides direction to the next step in the treatment process.
- Provides solutions to patient problems and recognizes and seeks help in emergent/hazardous situations.
- Executes follow-up calls with a sense of urgency.
- Assists front desk personnel with patient check-in/out procedures when necessary.
- Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs and weight, takes brief history, past medical, family, and social history, current medications, allergies, and other pertinent historical information as appropriate.
- Assists with patient transfers.
- Assists with procedures directly supervised by the provider.
- Follows documentation procedures and completes required documentation related to patient visits.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- BLS Certification.
- Certified Medical Assistant is preferred.
- Willingness to get AR Limited X-Ray License is preferred.
Schedule
Full-time team members work a rotating 36-40 hour/week schedule, consisting of 12-hour weekday shifts and every-other weekend. PRN (per diem) team members are scheduled on an as-needed basis.
