Responsibilities

• Provide superior patient care and perform administrative and delegated clinical tasks that support patients in a clinic-based environment as part of a care team led by the physician and/or advanced practice provider.
• Enter, maintain, and report all medical history, medical coding, and file claims using an Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Support patient visits by:
  • Greeting patients and escorting them to exam rooms.
  • Taking patients’ vital signs and other applicable medical information to support the reason for their visit and recommended treatment.
• Sterilize and prepare medical instruments.
• Ensure patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients.
• Provide patients with privacy, comfort, safety, and hygiene.
• Assist in maintaining inventory and stocking supplies, instruments, and equipment for all exam rooms.
• Maintain appropriate paperwork for inventory control and review orders received for completeness.
• Address and request referrals and other insurance authorizations.
• Pass along patient information for prescription, x-ray, or lab requisitions to necessary parties, including calls to pharmacies, hospitals, and labs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge.
• BLS Certification required within 14 days of start.

Qualifications (Preferred)

• Associate’s degree.
• Graduate from an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program.
• Prior experience in a clinic or hospital setting supporting patient care.
• Current national certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
