About the role
Ophthalmology Consultants is seeking a Medical Assistant (Ophthalmic Technician) to support our team in Des Peres, MO and other locations in the metro St Louis area and Sullivan, MO.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate patient flow
- Absorb and relay patient information
- Assist the doctor in preliminary testing
- Communicate with patients, doctors, and managers
- Answer inquiries through phone, email, and in-person
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
- Favorable result on Background Check
- Basic computer skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Excitement to learn and grow
Qualifications
- Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification (preferred)
- One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Current license to practice as an Ophthalmic Assistant or Technician
- Knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms, and ocular medications
- Ability to accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
- Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
- Visual and auditory acuity
- Ability to lift, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
