Medical Assistant, Ophthalmology

About the role

Ophthalmology Consultants is seeking a Medical Assistant (Ophthalmic Technician) to support our team in Des Peres, MO and other locations in the metro St Louis area and Sullivan, MO.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate patient flow
• Absorb and relay patient information
• Assist the doctor in preliminary testing
• Communicate with patients, doctors, and managers
• Answer inquiries through phone, email, and in-person

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
• Favorable result on Background Check
• Basic computer skills
• Strong customer service skills
• Excitement to learn and grow

Qualifications

• Current Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) certification (preferred)
• One year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Current license to practice as an Ophthalmic Assistant or Technician
• Knowledge of eye anatomy, diseases, symptoms, and ocular medications
• Ability to accurately and thoroughly document medical visits and procedures
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
• Strong fine motor skills and full use of hands
• Visual and auditory acuity
• Ability to lift, push, and pull items up to 25 lbs
