About the role

The Medical Assistant supports the daily operations of the Safety & Occupational Health Services Department by assisting with employee health programs, pre-placement health screenings, occupational health services, respiratory fit testing, immunization programs, health record management, and employee wellness initiatives. The position works collaboratively with the Occupational Health LPN, Human Resources, employees, and external vendors to promote a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Occupational Health LPN with coordinating pre-placement occupational health requirements for candidates, including scheduling pre-employment medical examinations, drug screenings, immunization reviews, and other related health clearances.
  • Perform duties within the Medical Assistant scope of practice, including obtaining and documenting vital signs, conducting and documenting drug screening collections, assisting with respirator fit testing, and providing other occupational health services as assigned.
  • Assist the Occupational Health LPN with employee immunization programs, annual influenza vaccination clinics, wellness initiatives, health screenings, and other employee health promotion activities.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and compliant employee occupational health records in electronic and paper formats.
  • Monitor and maintain occupational health supplies, vaccines, equipment, and inventory to support efficient daily operations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Occupational Health LPN or the Director of Safety & Occupational Health Services in accordance with departmental policies, organizational procedures, and applicable regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or a similar credential is required.
  • High school diploma or equivalent and completion of a medical assistant program.
  • One to three years of experience in occupational health, employee health, primary care, urgent care, or a related healthcare setting preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, infection prevention practices, and medical record documentation preferred.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR), Microsoft Office applications, and maintaining electronic and paper medical records.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification or the ability to obtain certification within 3 months of hire.

Pay

$21-$24/hour
