Medical Assistant - OB_GYN - New Center One - Full Time

Location: 3031 W Grand Blvd, Detroit, MI 48202

Shift Hours: Monday–Friday 08:00 am – 4:30 pm (4 Saturdays per year, 7:30 am – 12:00 pm)

Sign-on bonus: $2,000

About the role

Under direct supervision of the provider and nursing leadership, the Medical Assistant performs a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to assist in the quality and compassionate care provided to patients.

Responsibilities

• Greeting and escorting patients to the exam room
• Obtaining medical histories
• Measuring and recording vital signs
• Preparing patients for examination/procedure
• Assisting the provider during the examination/procedure

Requirements

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• One of the following:
  • Graduate of a Medical Assistant program with completion of a formal clinical externship (160-hour minimum)
  • Graduate from a Medical Assistant program without a clinical externship but with a minimum one-year experience in clinical medical assisting within the past five years
  • Current professionally recognized Medical Assistant Certification with a minimum of five years of experience in clinical medical assisting
  • Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
  • Licensed Paramedic/Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years
  • Military-trained medical personnel with at least one-year clinical experience in a clinical medical setting within the past five years
• Current BLS-C certification upon hire or successful completion by end of orientation

Qualifications

• Basic computer knowledge and keyboarding skills preferred
• Ability to perform a wide variety of clinical skills related to ambulatory patient care preferred
• Ability to problem-solve preferred
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills preferred
• EPIC (Electronic Medical Record) experience preferred
• Professionally recognized Medical Assistant Certification from one of the following preferred:
  • American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA/CMA)
  • American Medical Technologists (RMA)
  • National Health Career Associations Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA)
  • National Center for Competency Testing National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)
